Have you received a mailshot lately to congratulate you on maybe having
won thousands of pounds/dollars, tax free, lump sums and telling you
hundreds are winning every week using their secret system.
Well there's a good chance that what you received is downright lottery scams
and you're not alone, scam operators are using direct mail and the
telephone to lure consumers into buying shares of high stake foreign
lotteries from all over the world.
According to the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, the amount of foreign lottery
scams in mail that has managed to escape being intercepted and destroyed
by the federal law enforcement authorities has resulted in solicitations of an
astounding $120 million a year, to consumers attracted by the prospects of
instant wealth.
Not only are you at risk of losing your stake money with those lottery scams,
you run the risk of having your bank account details and/or credit card details
used to run up unauthorised withdrawals.
Once you have purchased a stake in one of those dodgy dealings, your
name is put on a mailing list to be sold on to other scammers operating
similar schemes and you can expect a lot more offers popping through your
mailbox.
